Taylor Swift is defintely not an INFJ- INFP is much better. Her music and concerns are centered around her experiences, (introverted feeling). The dominant cognitive function of Introverted intuition and Extroverted Feeling is not seen in Taylor at all.

Right on, Toni! INFJ’s are oceans that can’t be known by the surface alone. After all, so much of who we are is done internally. That’s what makes us such a mystery.

So true… sometime too internal, I had to learn to balance that as I got married and when I became a “manager” at work. I had to learn to communicate everything to a T. Which I’m not used too unless it involve expressing feelings 🙄

I’m an INFJ, I write anything, including lyrics, just like Taylor, because I can’t express my feelings as I don’t have one, I try to feel by writing, and through music is one of the ways.

That’s a good point. Conflict is not something this personality seeks often, though such a person may be “entrapped“ in conflict, sometimes for extended periods.

Miss Taylor is a “Right Fighter”, It’s a Challenge! She does tend to fight for what is right, regardless of the consequences. Finding balance in an UNBALANCED world can be very difficult for a INFJ.

It’s honestly ridiculous for anyone to ever think they could determine the MB personality type of a person a) they’ve never met and b) died before the test was even developed.

It’s by-definition based on self-report methodology. Who on earth is narcissistic enough to think they know how Ghandi or *Plato* would answer these questions?!

Yes! Finally someone said it!! Haha. We can’t possibly know their types; the best we can do is guess. Hell, my own type changed once I got more healthy and honest with myself, so sometimes we can’t even be sure of our own results, nevermind people we have never met. Someone should ask them all to take the 16 Personalities test. I’ve found it crazy accurate.

I’m an Infj and only based on one thing I can say she’s not infj… dating. She’s known to be dating lots of people till now. Me as an infj I would not date so many even if they are celebrities. That’s one of the things an infj would not do. We don’t want to open up to so many people specially if your previous relationship didn’t end well. So from that point of view I can say she’s not infj. Look for other celebrities who are 100% infj, you see them barely having relationship, or being in long relationships. Only those who truly know an infj or who is one, will know I am right.

That’s a lot of assumptions you made there,
First, you assumed that she wanted attention and hence pretended to be rare?
How does that work out? Why would a person who wants attention pretend to be rare?
Second, you assumed she believes that rare equals cool. Any reasons for that?
Third, you assumed that she is incredibly insecure and hence resorted to entitling herself to the so called rarest personality type. Wow. That sure makes sense.

Now, if she has actually taken the test and the results came out as she being an INFJ, what’s really more to it?
You are arguing that she is lying to which you have no evidence for and is using assumptions to strengthen the same.

Hey, just a suggestion but like… chill.

Taking the test once or twice does not give any accuracy on your type. Usually you have to take the test several times throughout the time to get closer to your actual type. It is best to study the whole idea behind the MBTI before identifying with a certain type. Test taken once means absolutely nothing. I have seen from close how insecurity can result as a wrong (INFJ) test result when my ex took the test. He clearly was not an INFJ but trembled so much on the questions that got a very mixed result. He is clearly an S-type who does not believe in personality tests. He should take the test again and again over time to finally land on his own type.

Also, I have noticed with several of my INFP friends that they seem to think that INFJ types (by simply existing) deprive some of their uniqueness somehow. They seem troubled when told that there is other types more rare than them. This is a stereotypical trait for the INFP – they dread to be common, and undestood. This is why they often tweak their test result to get the INFJ.

I do not believe that Taylor Swift is an INFJ. It just doesn’t seem to fit.

I have the feeling that you are mirroring your own feelings.
You seem like an INFJ who needs to grow and learn and look into him/herself.

We INFJ’s are wise but do not know everything and i think that you assume you know more than you do.
I might be wrong but you do come across that way.

Ps. I think it is human to want to stand out/ to be rare in some way and everyone IS special in their way. It doesn’t mean that people who think like that always need the attention. I honestly like it to be rare as an INFJ and i am proud of it. Doesn’t mean i need to show off and need others’ attention around it. It just makes me realize i am just as special as everyone else.

With 16 types wouldn’t it be fair to say all types are rare and unique.

Oh, finally someone who sees this in its´true colours…exactly…everyone is unique, so stop with the Infj BS….everybody has mistakes, nobody is perfect.

Miss. Green’s words, beautifully relayed the essence of what I felt whilst reading the comments ‘between the lines’; especially the determined belief that Swift’s an INFJ.

I’d like to think that any genuine INFJ grouping, helps that someone to better understand their ‘unconventional’ way of thinking, as well as the importance of taking considerations of ‘gut instinct’. Then have the strength of conviction to make your voice heard.

There’s amazing, psychologically fascinating traits in all sixteen types. Abilities and emotions that aren’t shared by all. As INFJs, there’s an instinct to try and understand all those character facets that we don’t have! I don’t imagine that’s unique to INFJs though, is it?

No one group should think it necessary to suppress their true feelings; extinguish their inner spirits’ flame or be desperate in desire to change thought processes and how they interact with the world! Pretending to be INFJ is not something I’ve ever understood tbh…

I’d say Taylor is more an ISFP/INFP. She is quite sensory in her ability to play both guitar and piano. She is intuitive in that she writes her own lyrics. She is spontaneous and bounces from relationship to relationship, so her idealism keeps her from settling. A “J” type would stick with a relationship. She may become more “J” the older she gets. And people have layers.

As an INFJ, I am sensing her as an INFP. INFPs and INFJs are very similar in temperament but our functional stacks are not, however – we process and interact with the world from a different point of reference. She does not strike me as a strong Ni dominant person. INFJs and INFPs also tend to mistype us one another very commonly (stems from how questions are worded in those tests). So, I agree with you. One thing we do is not Coreas our feelings through our creative outlet, so listening to her lyrics is telling.

She could’ve blocked that ability. I used to write poetry. But I stopped. I can no longer express myself through creative writing now.

We should also consider the possibility of this variation in a person’s behavior in retrospect to a specific personality type could very well be caused by their life experiences and how some of these may have created this variation of sorts? Seems like most people are debating a few things that differ as opposed to anything quite obvious. So it would seem that a person can vary slightly under certain circumstances that would impact something of this nature? Any thoughts?

Like every other type, and everyone really, I don’t think we as individuals can label anyone else with certainty. It’s not comforting knowing I’m identified in a group including Hitler. Two qualities attributed to us INFJs to keep in mind…
1. Contradictory
2. Extreme (passionate, dramatic, etc.)
These two days qualities alone tell me this is list is accurate or close to it.

And regarding Hitler… He’s been classified an INFJ (he certainly didn’t take an MBTI test). Although I’ll never understand his mindset and how on earth he came to his extremist principles, to I’manINFJ’s point above, to ID an INFJ is like saying you know an iceberg when you’ve only seen the tip. I’d hesitate to conclusively label anyone an INFJ except myself.

Side note: I’m honored to be grouped with Daniel Day-Lewis, I find him fascinating! So much of what he’s said as a person and the lines he’s delivered with near perfection, just tend to resonate with me. Regarding whether or not he’s really an INFJ, my opinion would be yes. Fact, he listened to Eminem almost exclusively while preparing for his role in Gangs of New York!

Well said. The only thing I’d change is your usage of “Extreme” to “Internally Extreme.” That is the case most of the time. I feel like if people understood us, we would be much more outwardly extreme. It also depends how comfortable we are with others, as trusting and comfortable are two different things.

On the plus side we are extremely unique and we posess some qualities that no one else in the world has. Also, we are perfectionists and won’t stop til we find our match, and we have a depth of meaning and love in our relationships that most people can only dream of. On the down side, this uniqueness and perfectionism makes it hard to find compatibility as we demand a lot from our significant other and usually we are not good at compromising, which is something we have to do in order to maintain a healty realationship.

Our love for others extends past death; the phrase, ’til death do us part’ is not something that applies to us. We can feel both great emotion and yet nothing at all when someone we love dies, because we can see the bigger picture and yet also focus on only those we love.

Amy Pond is an INFJ. But INFJ’s are sometimes mistaken for extroverts.

As an INFJ I can vouch for that. I often describe myself as “The most outgoing introvert you’ll ever meet”. Introverts are typically defined by the fact that being around people for long periods wears them out and they need that alone time to regroup.

So I seem to be a INF. I would gladly change the world into a better place … but I wouldn’t be able to kill … the fact that I’m always saying sorry to Sebastien the Spider before I put my shoe on it, proves me that killing people would be way too far. I would rather send them to a remote island or another planet than ordering people to kill. So I do find it hard to believe that Hitler, Bin Laden and Melissandre (GoT) are the same personalities as Mother Theresa and Martin L. King … who are said to be INFJs. Hitler, Bin Laden & Melissandre are quit okay with killing in what they believe to serve the good cause. Obi-wan Kenobi and Jon Snow are shown to not like killing at all, they will do it when there isn’t any other option left. So Hitler doesn’t belong in this list as there isn’t any way to prove. Is Bin Laden checked? And better write a letter to George R R Martin to ask him if Jon Snow and Melissandre (who burns people alive) have the same personality.

I believe we all have good and bad, love and hate in us. The choices we make to show love and compassion or the opposite are what determines our actions/reactions. I don’t like that these monsters are the same personality type as me however I can see the similarities. Life is about choices.

Monster they are, but I can understand where they are coming from. They may have identified what they perceived as a threat and chose the wrong means to eliminate it. As for Taylor, there is no way that anyone can accurately tell her personality type without a test if she is INFJ. However as an INFJ I think my intuition says she is.

He was also highly idealistic of this vision. Separating his idealist nature from his ideals is the important part in understanding how he may very well have been an INFJ. Think MLK or Mother Theresa gone horribly awry.
As others have said, there can be a very dark side to INFJs. You may be interested in reading about the “shadow side.” Every personality type has a shadow side and remember you still couldn’t kill a spider :).

I believe that every personality exhibits a duality. As an INFJ, when I was a child I always saw this in people and myself, but thought there was something wrong with me. However, I can also be very black and white as well as grey depending on the situation and my feelings that I am experiencing at that moment.

I disagree. INFJ’s see both sides of the coin. We see the tree and it’s roots. The visions and symbolisms I see center around equality and humanity. I want humankind to progress. However, to achieve those goals, you have to oppose the group stifling those goals.

All INFJ’s fall somewhere in-between the lightness and the darkness. It’s all subjective. I’m a very kind loving INJF who falls slightly in the darkness.

I don’t agree with killing as Hitler did but I understand his reasoning. I’m gay and have dealt with religious homophobic hate groups my entire life. We (the LGBT) have suffered painstakingly for their belief. We have been bullied, abused both mentally and physically, and murdered – due to are orientation. So, my view point on religious people is much different, compared to a straight INFJ.

There are a lot of mistypes that get reinforced by people reposting on websites without really looking into the validity of the type. For example, I have seen a number of websites that list Hitler as INFJ, but have also seen good evidence that he was actually an ENFJ.

And once people get to know the childhood, the intimacy of Hitler and his love story, everybody agrees on the INFJ analysis. There are a considerable amount of clues and hints regarding his cognitive functions…

You cannot be phobic of something with out a justified cause and be INFJ.
Maybe she experienced a lover who ended up being trans and they ended up giving trans folk a bad name in her eyes.

But the first chapter of Harry Potter is very much how families treat their child after they come out as trans in a right winged household.

So unless Rowling had a relative who is trans and was really mean to her growing up… she cannot be transphobic and INFJ.

INFJs are often very intelligent, however, Hitler and JK Rowling both are INFJ as they have done something immaculate that any of the other 15 types can also do, but not as well thought out.

This doesn’t mean that they are or not… what it does mean is even if they are more darker minded than what the internet perceives us as… remember one thing. We are the most misunderstood typing…

Hell, some INFJs get misunderstood by my words… :3 Offering related Memes make us easier to understand… but it doesn’t grasp the depth of what goes on in our minds.

You’re conflating Myers-Briggs type with other personality factors. Taylor is an Enneagram 3, which is why she doesn’t appear like most INFJs and why no one agrees on her type.

Hello, Fellow INFJ’s

As an avid MBTI researcher and constant study of pscychology associated to brain function, I am surprised that these celebrities were typed as INFJ. Actually I find that the majority of sites that name celebrities actually in my opinion are way off. They may get 2-3 out of 10. I have delved deep into the science of physical characteristics in association with brain functions, and just by taking into account their aura, their actual facial structure, even the way they look out of their eyes you can determine pretty quickly what they are NOT at least. I’ve watched interviews for hundreds of different celebrities in attempts to correctly type them. It’s not enough to say someone cares about others or others feelings…and then say they must be a feeling type. It’s not that simple. Every type is capable of feeling compassion and care for humanity and every type is capable of having a lot of the same feelings on things then their opposite types- it’s just human nature….one type doesn’t own the feelings of the world just as the other types don’t own thinking and logic. We all display these things. So I don’t think that these actors and celebrities can be so easily typed as INFJ. If they are so rare- we sure have a long list of them who have all become actors. I just have to disagree. Im not the Bible on typing- but I feel I’ve typed most of this list correctly. I’m working on an article now to show the correlation between brain function, physical appearance and body language. It’s actually a very strong tool once you see it at work within the types.

Basing personality type on genetic features immediately shows you don’t know how to type people properly. You are doing it based on illogical stereotypes.

Confusing passion and drive for change rather from personal agenda ( meaning Hitler’s agenda) as opposed to wanting change to help others and Making it your personal agenda… are two completely different things.

Mara, for you to fail to see that INFJs can be people who have done terrible things in the past would suggest to me that perhaps you are not an INFJ. Personality type through Myers Briggs, for me, is not about ‘doing good’ or ‘doing bad,’ it is an insight into one’s drives and emotional charges in particular environments and contexts.

Hitler was doing a huge ‘social justice’ in his eyes, with an intense level of passion and belief. That is very typical of an INFJ – just in the same way that Gandhi did and Plato did and Chomsky does., I don’t think where one lies on the political spectrum comes into play at all here.

Well, she does have an extensive history of “ghosting” … not that any INFJs are guilty of that. That was meant as kind sarcasm. When I saw Taylor Swift I agree that threw me for a loop.

I’m confused as to how these are determined. Just because someone thought so? Is there any actual criteria for how famous people are typed? How can you type a famous person reliably from afar, especially one that’s been dead for awhile? Even Taylor Swift is all over the place with typing (google it). I’m also skeptical when people say that fictional characters have an MBTI type – though they’re made by people, they might not have the consistency of the personality dimensions because they’ve been invented rather than having actual hardwiring in the brain (or nurturing or whatever determines personality). This all seems pretty open to interpretation.

I agree. INFJ myself, officially tested, and the things people are saying about “INFJs would never ___” is utter crap. INFJs don’t like conflict? BS, if I think I”m right about something that’s “helpful” or “for group benefit”, I’m absolutely going to push to get others to share that view. Not wanting to group with people who think/act differently? BS, most INFJs enjoy having access to varying perspectives because it helps us fill in the big picture of life and how people work. As you said, Gentleman Fox, INFJs see the roots and the trees.

So Hitler and Bin Laden were INFJs. Deal with it. They manipulated their followers through grand big picture notions and being able to read and exploit emotional needs. That’s *very* INFJ behavior, it’s just unfortunately not being put toward more compassionate purposes. I’m not saying this list is perfect, but dismiss people based on study of functions, not popularity. Like, please, Jon Snow is clearly an Fi-user, not Fe (probs ISFP); and Amy Pond reeks of Se, no way that’s her 4th function (probs ESFP). Just because you don’t personally like someone doesn’t mean they won’t have a valid claim to a type.

End of the day, being an INFJ doesn’t make you a magical unicorn representing all that’s good and pure in the world, and anyone who suggests otherwise is red flagging themselves as non-INFJs. Being rare doesn’t make you superior. There are a lot of non-INFJs claiming to be INFJs in these comments, for sure.

I believe that if you truely are an INFJ – Then you would know that one of your best and strongest traits would be the ability to have an open mind with understanding and acceptance of others and their opinions.

The only articles I have found is that adults naturally lose Intuition and lean towards Sensing. As I got older, I gone the other way. To the point it’s a huge factor in my life.

I am an INFJ and my boyfriend of 13 years and now husband of 3 years is an INTJ. It gets difficult sometimes to get my emotions through to him. but he is the mastermind and master manipulator. I am too a great manipulator and once someone crosses me enough times I make their lives hell but I am struggling in career. Some days I don’t have the energy to even hear someone from work’s voice. I am great at what I do but if someone could help me or someone could guide me towards the right direction I will be very grateful:)
